So, in my art world of deadlines, in both illustration work and animation ( mostly in television) it never seemed right to relax into a work.
There was always a deadline. And I took great pride in hitting my deadlines. Also, when I did productions, I took pride in being on budget. ( especially when I knew possibly that the fate of creator driven projects were in jeopardy if creators were not seen as fiscally and deadline savvy). I took it all on.
But then I realized, they expected creatives to be over budget and late. And then assigned mother or father types to keep the kids in line.
But even though I need to still stay fiscally prudent with our life here in Belgium, my relaxation with my projects, and not rushing, puts them in a different category of art expression.
Its about the experience and not the final product. Because when it is all said and done, the final product withers on the shelf after a while, and you see it in the clearance rack.
But the joy of the process remains. And is the only thing that is real.
